As the solar revolution spreads across Ireland, businesses are lowering their energy bills, receiving government funding and tax incentives, plus boosting their brand’s reputation when they switch to Solar PV technology.

Our solar energy experts have completed over 6,000 Solar PV installations nationwide. We’ve led the solar power industry for the past decade and, unlike many newbie installers out there, our commercial solar panels include the highest-quality materials, ongoing maintenance, plus customer support that extends long beyond installation.

We’re keen to help all businesses across Ireland make the switch to solar – and for that switch to be as seamless as possible. So you can focus on your business operations, and start soaking up the savings.

Benefits of solar

What Is Solar PV?

Solar energy is power generated from sunlight. With a Solar PV system, your organisation can enjoy free electricity that’s produced by the sun and absorbed by your panels. Meaning you can use solar to help power your business and reduce your operating costs.

Solar panel savings

Commercial Grants
for Solar Panels

To help communities across Ireland become more sustainable, the government is offering a range of commercial grants and tax incentives. So businesses who install Solar PV panels can receive up to €162,600 towards their investment.

The Non-Domestic Microgen Grant (NDMG), the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS), the Accelerated Capital Allowance (ACA) grant and the Better Energy Communities (BEC) support scheme are just a few incentives for those seeking renewable energy sources.

Plus, as part of its Microgeneration Support Scheme, your organisation can actually get paid for exporting unused electricity back to the grid.

With these supports, plus the energy savings and potential earnings from using solar for business, you can offset installation costs in as little as 5 years. Good to know.

FAQs

Your Journey to Sustainable Energy Starts Here

At Caldor Solar, we’re not just selling solar panels; we’re championing a brighter, cleaner, and more sustainable future for you and Ireland.
And we’re happy to answer any questions you might have.

How long do solar panels last?

Solar panels typically perform best up to 20–30 years after installation – then they will slowly start to deteriorate in terms of the amount of power they can generate.

What types of solar panels are there?

Monocrystalline panels are one of the most efficient options to generate electricity, with a yield of 18–23%. They’re best for those with limited roof space. Thin-film or amorphous panels are cheaper, although their yield is only 8–12% and they need more space. We use matt black mono panels that’ll blend into your roof seamlessly, composed of best-in-industry materials.

Where is the best place to put solar panels?

Typically, the best place to install solar panels in Ireland is on your roof: ideally, away from any obstacles or objects that could throw shade on them and facing to the south for the highest yield. See our post on panel placement for more.

Do solar panels work in rainy weather?

Contrary to popular belief, solar panels can still generate electricity on cloudy and rainy days – just not as much as on sunnier, brighter days. It’s a question of light, not heat, after all – and fortunately, Ireland receives plenty of sunlight. You can maximise this output further by installing a solar battery for your panel system.

How many solar panels do I need?

For context, a typical home in Ireland may need 10 panels to cover their energy needs. In terms of your business premises, that figure may differ depending on your business’ energy consumption, on your available roof space, plus its design and location.

How much will installation cost?

It depends on your organisation’s energy consumption and the number of panels you’ll need for your premises, plus the type of system you’ve chosen. But for a rough example, 10 panels with a 4.3 kW system from Caldor Solar will cost around €5,600.

How can I apply for an SEAI grant?

Businesses in Ireland are eligible for a Non-Domestic Microgen Grant, which can cover up to €162,600 towards the cost of solar panel installation. You’ll need to work with an SEAI-registered installation company (like Caldor Solar) in order to apply. We can help you with this process, or see the business grants page for more info.
